Charity Life Drawing, March 6th, 2010 |
On Saturday 6th March we held what was for us a novel event at the studio, a charity Life Drawing afternoon, in aid of Leonard Cheshire Disability who support over 21,000 disabled people in the UK and works in 52 countries worldwide and provide innovative services that give disabled people the opportunity to live life their way.
Ian Short, the husband of one of our students is running in this years London Marathon in support of this charity, and as part of his fund raising efforts came up with the idea of stripping off and modelling at the studio, although never having done anything like it in his life before!

We gathered a small group of 5, none of whom had ever done life drawing before either, and had a very rewarding afternoon with some impressive results for total novices! With donations from others who were not able to attend, Ian has so far raised nearly £150 in this alone at the studio. Donations are still coming in, and if you would like to contribute then you can follow this link to help support a very worthy cause, and where you will find more information about Ian efforts , or if you prefer, copy and paste this address into your browser: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/IanShort.

Danny and Val are exhibiting paintings and photographs celebrating beauty in nature, close up, at the Kaleidoscope Gallery above Sevenoaks Library. They include new photographs and a new set of paintings that show the beauty in decay as plants die. The exhibition is open during normal library opening times and is free, so please go and pay it a visit!

We recently held our first set of 3 classes looking at the traditional methods of painting a portrait. Our small group had a very enjoyable time, not least the luxury of being able to spend a whole day painting. The resulting portraits were excellent, adn very different. We hope to have some images up on the site shortly.
