Art Classes
Ever wanted to paint that beautiful landscape or flower or that portrait of a loved one, but weren't sure how? Then read on!
Danny and Val invite you to join our attractive and friendly studio in the heart of the Kent countryside. If you live in the Maidstone or the Tonbridge and Malling areas of Kent, then this is the place for you to learn new skills, or improve on existing ones, in all aspects of painting and drawing in a relaxed and at times lively atmosphere!
Classes are held in drawing, watercolour, pastel, oils and acrylics, both for adults and for children, and are geared principally to the wishes of each individual student, from complete beginners to the more experienced. We can also cater for those who wish to explore the joys of drypoint, collography and lithography. You go at your own pace! Classes are small, with no more than 4 to 7 students at any one time, thereby ensuring everyone receives individual tuition. Enquire about classes here.
Many of our students have gone on to sell and exhibit their work through local exhibitons and galleries, whilst others have been inspired to embark on Fine Art Degree courses. See some of our students work here
Demonstrations and Group Workshops

In addition to our classes, we are able to offer day or part day workshops, with or without demonstration, either at our studio or at your groups’ meeting place. All you need do is tell us what you want to cover, be it portraits, textures in watercolour, whatever you want, and we will do the rest! Whilst Danny specialises in the traditional time honoured methods in oil painting, we are able to cater for all media - watercolour, pastel, pen and ink, drawing, and acrylic.
Fun is the order of the day and we hope to encourage and coax you so that you enjoy the day fully.
With Danny also having a degree in the History of Art, we are also available to give illustrated talks on various periods of Art History, just discuss your requirements with us.
Our prices are very competitive, and start from £70 for a 2 hour session, to £140 for a day.
Masterclass Workshops
We hope with this initial introduction to oil painting masterclass to broaden your experience and enjoyment of painting in oils, with particular reference to the portrait.
We start by discussing the merits of various painting surfaces and demonstration of the preparation of a stretched canvas for painting, and on to the actual painting using traditional, time tested methods, and discussing thee various mediums and glazes available, and their uses.

Corporate Workshops

Our studio is also the ideal venue for that special works’ event, or team building exercise. With both Danny and Val on hand to guide and encourage, your team will over the course of the workshop produce an art work(s) on which they have jointly worked, in an enjoyable environment. All materials are provided, including light refreshments.
We can cater for up to 10 participants at any one time. Art works produced, be they individual works or a single collaborative one made of constituent parts are taken home or back to the office at the end of the workshop.
Our prices for corporate sessions will vary depending on your exact requirements, and what materials, catering etc. are provided, but as a guide will start from £175 or a days’ activities.

Art in the Garden

Our annual "painting day" workshop in the garden of the farm owners, Mark and Elizabeth English, located at the back of our studio at Manor Farm, was not blessed with the best of weather this year. But despite that, the sun did occasionally make an appearance and the rain didn't really take hold till we finished, and a very pleasant and enjoyable day was had by all, with some good works produced yet again.
