We hope with this initial introduction to oil painting masterclass to broaden your experience and enjoyment of painting in oils, with particular reference to the portrait.
We start by discussing the merits of various painting surfaces and demonstration of the preparation of a stretched canvas for painting, and on to the actual painting using traditional, time tested methods, and discussing thee various mediums and glazes available, and their uses.
The classes will be run at studio, which is based at Manor Farm in Wateringbury, from 10am and finishing at 4pm on Sundays. There will be a break for lunch around 1pm. We will aim to have a final crit and discussion of the day's painting from around 3.30pm.
The cost of the course is £60, with a non-refundable deposit of £25 being required to reserve your place.
The balance will need to be paid at least 5 days before the start of the course. Cheques to made payable to 'Novus Studio' and sent to the following address:

There will need to be a minimum of 5 people to run the course and a maximum of 7. There will be a full refund should the course not run.
Included in the price of the course, you will get a stretched canvas on which you will paint the portrait. All you need bring with you are your own brushes, paints and palettes.
Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, but you will need to bring a packed lunch.
